Mt. Airy Express, G'town Courier deal ...
A source has informed us of a deal for the Mt. Airy Express and the Germantown Courier, properties of the Journal Register Co. (JRC) of Yardley.
"Connie Winters, real estate mini-magnate... is the new owner of the Mt Airy and G'town papers," we were told.
This bit of news was expanded upon by a second source who is close to figures involved in the deal. She signed letter of intent, the source said.
There is a preferred candidate for editor with whom Winters has not yet spoken, a source added.

Maybe if Connie Winters bought the Local we wouldn't have any of the drama that we do.
Like corruption.
Maybe we'd have a employer matched 401(k) contribution.
Maybe we wouldn't have to find a new health care provider on an annual basis.
Maybe we'd have more subscribers.
Maybe we wouldn't be in the hole since the organization that oversees us has "mismanaged" our funds.
Maybe we wouldn't be investigated by the Attorney General.
Maybe we wouldn't be getting sued by former employees.
Maybe our editors wouldn't be fired or threatened.
Maybe we wouldn't be blamed for reporting on topics like crime and be criticized for being what a newspaper should be.
Maybe, no defiantly, if she bought the Local, there wouldn't be any more threatening behavior of board members or their negative opinions on how to manage, operate or direct the paper or its staff. Nor would there be any underhandedness that goes along with that.
Connie Winters, would you purchase the Local - if it were for sale?
If you want to screamed at, abused, insulted, lied to, neglected and or transform yourself into general, all around toady, please, be my guest and sell her the paper! And, by the way, she is so far to the right that she would make James W. von Brunn blush!
