Lies, Damn Lies and the GOP ...

The lies and misinformation from the Right Wing on health care legislation continues, with Republican politicians leading the charge.

Check these two stories about the scare tactics Republicans use, including Killing Grandma and Death Panels - "Don't Talk to Me About Death Panels" and "Death Panels Are Already Here."

Steve Pearlstein at the Washington Post documents Republican lies on health care reform here.

Sen. Specter had a charming encounter with the lunatic fringe today in Lebanon, Pa. Birthers, deathers. Grand Old Party, ain't it. If you're confused about Birthers and Deathers, read below.

From Kos:

Deather, defined

Main entry: deather
Function: noun
Etymology: From birther, a related conspiracy theory which holds that President Obama is not a natural born U.S. citizen. Inspired by the teabaggers of April 15, 2009.
Date: Mid-2009
Definition: One who believes or spreads the false conspiracy theory that the health care reform legislation before Congress would create "death panels" or force seniors and sick people into euthanasia.
Examples: Sarah Palin is a deather. Glenn Beck is a deather. Rush Limbaugh is a deather.

Health care change needs our support. Do something to stop the Know-Nothings looking to stop change.

As a reminder, there's always Sarah Palin and her world view. Countdown takes her down in this clip.

Update: In fairness, the Teabaggers offer their contributions to civil discourse.

Update: Aug. 29: And Ted Kennedy has the final word about compromising - from beyond the grave.

This 7 minute rant with the anger in the "special" commentator's face and voice shows an all too common intolerance of the views of others. There are problems in the availability and cost of health care insurance but this fellow adds nothing to the debate. Citizens' and politicians' concerns for government run health care are not lies but rather reflections on other government social programs that have failed to meet expectations. I think current private insurance is very costly but our governmnet will neither contain the cost nor maintain the quality. Medicare is funded by taking 2.9% of every dollar earned and there is still concern over its funding.

Hmmm...you are still showing the kind of people who proposed this nonsense in the first place. Nancy Pelosi looks good as a blond. Can I get a ride on her jet (I mean my jet.) or better yet can I get on her health plan (you know...the one I'm paying for.) One must wonder why Social Security and Medicare are considered grossly inadequate for those who legislated these programs for the average citizen.

How good to see Jeremiade's cool reason after Little Eddie's bombast and narcissism.

Once upon a time, a man, in the early stages of Alzheimers, lived in the white house and played the role of president. For years, he told a story in a speech that was written for him to memorize, about a welfare mom who had a Cadillac.
He told it over and over and over. No one ever asked him to name the woman or to prove the story. After a while, people took the story for granted and eventually, because of the story, children went to bed hungry in the richest nation state in the history of planet earth.
The same people who gave him the story to memorize and tell, now give other stories for other people, whom they employ, to repeat and repeat until people begin to believe them.
Stories about death panels and pulling the plug on grandma.
These stories will be repeated while children die without medical care in the richest nation state in the history of planet earth.
Repeating something made up for a political goal over and over until people believe it, and policy results, has worked before.
I read about one time, some people told this story about jews having all the money and being mean and cheap. That one was repeated so often that eventually, they put the jews on trains and took them away and the next time anybody saw the jews, they looked really different.
Until the democrats realize the grade level at which most americans learn, they will lose every white person who doesn't watch PBS.
An amusing side story about the Alzheimer presidents' wife. She was an anorexic, addicted to diuretics and laxatives, who told kids to just say no to drugs.
