A Motion for CHCA
Motion: That CHCA Vice President of Operations Dina Hitchcock resign from the CHCA board, effective immediately.
- Cause: Ms Hitchcock admitted violating CHCA election rules concerning the 2008 board election.
That she ordered the sequestering and destruction of all ballots, thus violating the CHCA rules concerning ballot availability. She admitted these acts at a board meeting and in the Local.
These acts have cast impropriety over the election, the board and the entire CHCA.
For these entities to regain any sense of authority and standing in the neighborhood, the person who has admitted responsibility must resign.
Motion: That CHCA President Tolis Vardakis resign from the CHCA board, effective immediately.
- Cause: That he exercised no authority over Ms. Hitchcock in her violation of election rules, allowing the ballots to be destroyed, and initiated no action against Ms. Hitchcock after she admitted her acts.
That he violated CHCA bylaws by presiding over an Executive session that was held without prior notification as dictated in the by-laws, for the express and sole purpose of firing the Editor of the Local.
That this meeting was contrary to CHCA by-laws was noted by more than one attendee at the meeting. Their warnings were ignored, and the meeting and vote continued.
For the CHCA to regain the respect and confidence of its employees the person responsible for these acts must resign.

These people have persisted in fucking up the work environment for years. Years, and somehow it doesn't matter who's in charge, they all come down to the same conclusion, we'll do what we want regardless of rules. If we don't like what the Editor says, we'll come down on him. If we don't like what the employee say, we'll make them out to be rabid animals. They have money and they aren't invested in this paper as if it were their lives like it is ours. Superficial interest only begets drama and chaos.
Let's not forget what they did to Jimmy Pack. They never investigated his claims of harrassment, they led him to belive he would be heard, then they fired him out of retaliation while he was on vacation.
To R. and Denys: I was one of the "they" you referred to (for many years) and I have always had the greatest respect and admiration for all those who have produced the Local. I include those like Lombardi, Lear, Mazzaccaro, Sturdivant, Alloway, Leounes, Pack, and John. But I also agree with your comments thus I hope the special community meeting next week results in some sanity brought into the scheme being perpetrated by Vardakis, Hitchcock, Keintz and a few others. They have not offered an explanation of their conduct, but I suspect there is no explanation. Mary Sue Welch seemed to hit the nail on the head in a letter to the Local concerning this group.
It is highly relevant that George Spaeth resigned, not because he is such a good person, but rather because he signed the original CHCA charter. He has seen it all from Day 1. He has been through every war on Chestnut Hill, and there have been many. He did not leave because his feelings were hurt or because he disagreed. In over a half century that must have happened before.
I hope Mazzaccaro and staff remain true through this one more rude and despicable affront by elected leaders who failed to learn leadership through their lives so far. Many good people wish you well and I pray that they prevail here.
I left out Jimmy's situation because I think he has much better and more satisfying way of resolving it. I don't want to get in his way. But if other s want to list their own charges against these two-or others, let's see what you've got.
