It Continues
Yes, there will be a new Chestnut Hill Community Association board of directors installed soon. But to expect great changes in attitude toward the independence of the Local may be too much to ask. CHCF member McGuckin rants behind a digital screen about "two-bit peddlers" Recko, Foster and Feldman in a Rushbo imitation. Rob "n of 4" Remus continues pushing his dim assessment of what a newspaper needs to offer to be a success and the Local personnel policy simmers in the background, waiting to boil over.
Maybe we need a print version of this digital rag...

As usual, the voters were'nt given much choice and, if Hillers aren't willing to get involved as Stephanie and Michael Chomentowski have done, we can't hope for much. The lack of interest by residents made it too easy for CHBA to buy the election. But I wish them all well.
The next CHCA meeting should be interesting. Perhaps there will be a lull in the personal attacks featured in the Local letters to the editor. While I agree and disagree with both sides sometimes, this public record of acrimony and pettiness is damaging to my neighborhood. I hope it will stop. A neighborhood is not just about retail space....
Audacity, I ignore any acrimonious and petty content of Local letters to learn the writers' positions which are often passionately stated. Chestnut Hill is fortunate to have people who believe so passionately and I seriously doubt that that your neighborhood was damaged. But this new board will make your neighborhood all about retail space especailly if the Magarity site is to be developed.
Did anyone notice another empty store front... Chico's ... gone with the wind.
Chico's was supposed to leave over a year ago. Some gourmet pizza place looked at the property, at least, a year and a half ago (if not longer).
I used to live above the Chico's. It was interesting but not as much fun as Harpo, Gummo or Zeppo's.
Recently Border's released a statement saying they aren't going anywhere.
But....
Corporate is closing a number of locations and a little Real Estate Bird told me that, although not officially on the market, the property has been shown to an interested party.
