Membership Duties

What surprised me is that CHBA members don't have to pay for a CHCA membership. That doesn't seem right at all.

In the Martin Scorcese film Casino, Greg Welsh's role was played by Kevin Pollak.

Ever notice in his "Gangs of New York" movie that street vendors are selling bananas years before they were physically in NYC?

I think the US flag had the wrong number of stars on it as well... I can't remember. My wife noticed that one.

But seriously.

The more I think about this the more it bothers me. If I wanted to vote for CHCA board as a resident I have to pay dues.

If I have a business (and live in New Jersey) I can vote without paying CHCA dues as long as I am a member of the CHBA.

The businesses should have to pay higherdues than residents. That's how it is in New Orleans. Residents paid $30/year and businesses had to pay $300/year. This is in addition to the dues for the French Quarter Business Assn.

Strictly speaking, Greg Welsh is wrong and, in fact, business member dues are higher that those of residents. It will be interesting to see what he actually means when he says such memberships are provided at no cost. Perhaps the dues are paid by CHBA. Maybe bailout money is available to buy a CHCA election.

Firstly, what bothered me about Gangs of New York was that to get the money to make it, Scorcese had to use two people who were still learning how to ACT.
Rev, you need to join a REALLY free community organization.
CHNU needs you!

How can we call them on this "free membership" BS?

As for the CHNU... I don't think I am familiar with it. Chestnut Hill Neighbors Union? Chestnut Hill Nigerian Umbrella? After living on the Ave for 4 years I am ready to try anything once.
