Karma's a Bitch

If Walter Sullivan can be Chestnut Hill Community Association prez-to-be and Geraldine Hitchcock the treasurer wanna-be, what does that make Rob Remus, Operations-honcho would-be, guardian of civility on Germantown Avenue and the subject of a visit by Philadelphia's finest to the Local office a few months back?

Oh, wait. Rob may be busy.

From the Philadelphia city civil docket...

This explains Remus' uncivil behavior toward Local employees but it does not explain the CHCA Board's enabling of Remus whose "study" of the Local was clearly nonsense.

What's really interesting is that Hitchcock and Remus want to be entrusted with management responsibility for the Community Association's finances -- when they clearly can't even manage their own personal finances. Take a look at the public land records in Montco and you'll see Dina's long string of re-fi's... Maybe they should both focus on getting their own houses in order (and getting jobs) instead of telling other people how to run theirs, and ruining other peoples lives in the process.

So, who should we vote for?

You go to the Chestnut Hill Residents Association and leave the old group behind. Why bother with the CHCA now? It's a dying institution. No use riding a dead horse.

As long as the CHCA is controlling $2 million in community assets, the horse isn't dead. Anonymous must be one of the new Board members wondering who should lead them since the election is history. Sadly, community apathy has given control over to CHBA. The Nominating Committee has already selected your new leaders. Good luck.

Was this posted as a horrible warning or as explanation for past behavior, or simply to humiliate?

Getting back to the real issue - someone needs to have the balls to tell these people that they are precisely the reason that the CHCA has gotten this reputation. They need to go. And it does not seem that they will do it willingly.

Who are these people exactly? Dina Hitchcock, Rob Remus and Mark Keintz. Their motivation still remains a mystery. Their reward? A false sense of power? It's all so perplexing and pathetic. But it really does seem that they should be more concerned with cleaning their own houses, so to speak.

Well, now we know why he set his sights on The Local. I am sure he was hoping that he'd get the publisher job, then he could pay his bills. I imagine that this might begin to explain his harrassment of employees, not that the extreme personal financial stress he is under makes any of that right.

For me this post provides an explanation of highly improper actions by Remus during his term in office. I'm unclear as to the financial difficulties of Geraldine Hitchcock but neither of them should ever have been entrusted with the management of Chestnut Hill funds. In my earlier comment I estimated the wealth of the organization at $2 million but that was too low. The Fund holds investments of $1 million and the Local is worth at least $1 million (conservatively valued at its annual billings); however, Town Hall must be worth another $1 million. Town Hall is properly included in financial statements at its purchase price of about $240,000 but it has been fully depreciated bringing its entry down to zero. Thus, CHCA is a wealthy "dead horse" and the $3 million net worth is enough to make bad people do bad things.

DINA DOES NOT LIVE IN CHESTNUT HILL. Dina does not live in PHILADELPHIA even! What is the problem with the board members?

Why doesn't she join the cummunity board for her community, somewhere in Montgomery County? Or will they not have her?

Why won't the current members wake up?

Personal finances have nothing to do with character or character. I know skid row people who have a lot of intergrity and no need to thwart. They would be the same if the had the money of an oil baron. Or a coal baron.

Personal finances have plenty to do with character and integrity. If you meant to say that personal wealth is not a measure of character and integrity then I agree with you. A person of character and integrity can arrange to pay his gas bill and mortgage without forcing the City and GMAC to sue him. Instead of picking a fight with Jimmy Pack, go out and get a job.
